Football Tournament -2012 at Koraput began on 15th July-2012

Sachin Jadhav , District Collector kicked the football in the police parade ground at Koraput today at 4 PM and 40th Sub-Divisional League-cum-knockout football tournament was inaugurated . While 21 teams would play 52 matches over the next few days , Town Sporting Club-B team comprising of young tribal boys from the nearby villages  won the inaugural match by beating IRB team by 1-0 goals . Congrats .

Football match in the Police Parade ground at Koraput  is considered almost as a heritage for its sweet memories and uninterrupted series of games over the last 30-40 years . This ground has seen great football players emerging . The league had the participation of various teams including our Govt.Boys' High School in the past ( What a great team they were !) . Many young persons had got the opportunity to get jobs in HAL and Police for the game . While standing  in the ground  to witness the first match, I was recalling the way people used to shout each move of the ball from this goal post to the other . Now even though the shouting is there , something was missing . However it was nice to see the good crowd all round . Long live Football tournament of Koraput .
